The LC4 Chaise Longue (1928), dubbed the “relaxing machine,” is a lounge that perfectly mirrors the human body’s natural curves. The LC4 Chaise Longue appears to float above its supports. The first systemised tubular steel designs by Le Corbusier’s studio appeared in 1928 and were described as “équipement de l’habitation” – “house equipment” – for their machine-liked style and form. The best known of this furniture group is the LC4 Chaiselongue which has an ergonomically resolved form.
